Register now for the VLIZ Marine Science Day 2021

In a couple weeks time VLIZ will hold its 20th anniversary edition of the VLIZ Marine Science Day. Due to the current restrictions, this anniversary edition has been transformed to an online event on Wednesday 3 March 2021.

Why should you attend?

  • It's the perfect opportunity to get in touch with fellow marine scientists;
  • We compiled an exciting and interesting half day online program, including some novelties and surprises;
  • You will discover the work of early career marine scientists, through oral presentations and interviews;
  • Keynote speaker Griet Neukermans (UGent|VLIZ) will guide you through her international career in (remote) optical sensing and explains how to tackle research questions in ocean biogeochemistry, ecology and global change;
  • The traditonal poster session has been completely revised. Still, the participants will decide who will win the poster award!
  • Special attention will go to the start of the UN Decade for Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

Conclusion: all marine scientists - both young and experienced, from universities, research institutes
and companies - should be present at this festive day for marine sciences in Flanders!

Registration for the VLIZ Marine Science Day 2021 is open now! By following this link, you can register for the event. Information on the programme can be found on the website.

Please note that registration is free, but mandatory
Deadline for registration: Sunday 28 February

As this is an anniversary edition, we would like you to go back in time: upload a picture of yourself taken about 20 years ago (and if possible, in a marine environment) in the registration form. At the end of the event, all collected pictures will be used in a throwback to the early years of VLIZ.

The day before the event, you will receive an e-mail with some additional information and the links to the event and the poster sessions, and you will get to know how you can vote for your favourite poster.
